Shri Virendra Pal Singh
President, Janta Vedic College, Baraut

I feel immense pleasure to note that Janta Vedic College Baraurt ever since its inception as Jat Vedic High School in 1917, has been gradually developing and expanding to fulfil the aspirations of higher education in this rural area of western Uttar Pradesh, with highly ferlite agricultural land and other natural resources. The small sapling planted in this land 90 years ago by our visionary ancestors has grown into a big banyan tree and branched out into three full-fledged educational institutions, the other two being Janta Vedic Inter College, Baraut and Industrial Training Institute, Baraut.

Our all three educational institutions are their prior institutions in this area situated close to each other. These three institutions form a big centre of education — an 'educational complex' in baraut, managed and maintained by Jat Siksha Sabha a registered society and a representative body mostly of the farming community of this area, which draws strength and wisdom from its 22,000 life members. It is our collective effort and mutual co-operation which has gone a long way in making these institutions.

The principles and ideology followed by our institutions have set by our great visionary leaders like late Choudhary Charan Singh who believed that proper discipline and good moral character are the foundation stones of education. Our emphasis has always been on maintaining proper discipline and cultivation of good moral character among the students. We are also committed to nurture the best talent amongst our students by exposing them positively to challenging assignments and extra-curricular activities and by providing them all possible assistance on merit-cum-means basis. Our aim is not only academic excellence but excellence in every field.

As growing unemployment among the educated youth has become a cause of greater concern now-a-days, it has been our endeavour to provide job-oriented vocation education to our students to increase the scope of employment for them. Some undergraduate level and postgraduate level courses like B.P.Ed., Bioinformatics, Microbiology, and Industrial chemistry, introduced recently, definitely aim at employment generation among the educated youth.

Many other such vocational programmes including B.Sc Biotechnology, M.Sc Biotechnology and M.P.Ed. will follow in the years to come. The IGNOU Study Centre in our college also offers a range of vocational programmes for our students.

Still we have a long way to go to meet our needs and fulfill our aspirations. I praise and appreciate the co-operation of the people of this area, the members and office bearers of the managing committee, the public representatives and the social workers, and the staff and students in running these educational institutions properly and effectively with their continuous support, co-operation and good will. I hope to enrich further the facilities and increase further the opportunities for our children in these educational institutions.

Thank You

Shri Virendra Pal Singh
